Roumen Dimitrov studied Composition and Media Composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien).In addition, he received his second Master’s Degree in Sound Engineering at the National Academy of Music in Sofia.

As a composer and producer, Roumen Dimitrov works in the areas of film, TV, theatre and advertising, as well as contemporary concert music.The genres of music in which he is active cover the entire stylistic range in the media sector – from pieces for acoustic instruments (whether solo, full orchestra, or big band) to electronic music and pop songs.

He has been awarded prizes in several international composition competitions, and in 2002 was nominated for the prestigious European Sponsoring Prize for Film and Media Music in Bonn.

As sound engineer Roumen Dimitrov has recorded numerous CDs and DVDs and been responsible for the mixing and sound design of entire feature films and documentaries for various production teams.

In 2009 he founded the course of study in “Media Composition and Electroacoustic Music” at the National Academy of Music in Sofia.

Since 2012 Roumen Dimitrov has taught „Orchestration“ and „Studio engineering for Media Composition“ at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 2014/15 he was appointed Visiting Professor in Media Composition.
